2000 Sister Hazel Sunset Station, Las Vegas, NVA radio station fan show
My friend won tickets on a call-in contest and gave them to me to use. Sister Hazel is a simply awesome jam band, great harmonies, humble and still entertaining. The hit you have heard is “All For You.” It’s better as a live track. Since this show, they have actually released albums at a decent clip, so every few years I check in on what they’re up to. “Fortress” is the best album to date, if you were looking for a place to start.
Sunset Station isn’t really a venue, so much as a bar that they close off from the rest of the casino using thick curtains. The seats were just bridge chairs tied together in makeshift rows. So it was an up close and personal experience. There was a “meet the band” segment after which we skipped, because I didn’t have the imagination to think what I might say.
I would see them again, but their touring schedule doesn’t seem to coincide with my life schedule.
