Augustana Traveling Circus and Medicine Show Boston, MA August 31, 2009

Augustana contrasted pretty sharply with the other bands by being an understated cross between Coldplay and Bob Dylan. Their two sets during the night where fine performances despite being low key pop affairs, giving the crowd a break from the frenetic energy of Michael Franti and Adam Duritz. Their music was mellow-bordering-on-emo, and their stage presence was completely swallowed up by the other bands. It was hard to see how they could carry a show on their own.

Playing the track Boston would have been pandering except it was the highlight of their set.

pop punk verging on emo, liked them but they’re weird-kept suspecting they’re a Christian band, three are siblings, lead singer is very attractive clean girl who is a natural performer, she wore hot shorts, they’re like the band your high school friends put together if you’re a girl

Really brassy and loud. They’re dull as shit. Candy pop with faux hard rock overtones. British mophead lead keyboard. Radio band — little bit power pop punk but mostly Rick Astley. Official SXSW showcase was for 9pm at Cheers on Friday. They’re from Minneapolis. Are they emo? Rockboy says they’re influenced by Fastlane from the 80s and are generally nonthreatening metal.

death farmboys, screamo, but then it was more dark humor and ended up being one of my favorites, Rockboy says they’re like 7 Seconds, don\”t rely on hardness to matter

typical 00s band, indie and pop-punk mix, they were good for the genre, kind of like their name too, lots of jumping, but that stupid boy-whine voice
